{"id":1218,"date":"2014-01-22T17:44:49","date_gmt":"2014-01-22T17:44:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.parklaneorthodontics.co.uk\/?p=1218"},"modified":"2014-01-22T17:44:49","modified_gmt":"2014-01-22T17:44:49","slug":"who-would-benefit-from-orthodontic-treatment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parklaneorthodontics.co.uk\/blog\/who-would-benefit-from-orthodontic-treatment\/","title":{"rendered":"Who would benefit from orthodontic treatment?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recent research carried out by Ipsos MORI and commissioned by the British Lingual Orthodontic Society (BLOS) revealed almost 1 in 5 (19%) of the UK public believe they would benefit from orthodontic treatment.<\/p>\n<p>The research was carried out to understand the public\u2019s perception and knowledge of orthodontic treatment with the high level results as below:<\/p>\n<div class=\"custom_link_left\">\n<ul>\n<li>&#8211; When asked what mattered most when choosing treatment, quality was rated as the most important aspect (90%), followed by cost (85%) and access to a specialist locally (82%)<\/li>\n<li>&#8211;\u00a0The research revealed that 30% of people are now aware of the lingual technique (braces fitted behind the teeth) in orthodontic treatment<\/li>\n<li>&#8211;\u00a0The highest reason for the increase in knowledge was due to family, friends or colleagues having the treatment (44%).\u00a0 Other reasons for the increase were; recommendations by a dentist or orthodontist, and awareness as a result of news about celebrities, such as Myleene Klass, who has been pictured showing off her braces to photographers<\/li>\n<li>&#8211;\u00a04 out of 10 people said they care more about their teeth today than 10 years ago<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Paul Ward, Chairman of BLOS, commented: &#8216;These findings demonstrate that the British public take an informed approach to orthodontic treatment.
