{"id":3820,"date":"2017-11-11T18:45:11","date_gmt":"2017-11-11T18:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.parklaneorthodontics.co.uk\/?p=3820"},"modified":"2023-06-22T13:27:55","modified_gmt":"2023-06-22T12:27:55","slug":"orthodontic-advice-from-us-here-at-park-lane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parklaneorthodontics.co.uk\/blog\/orthodontic-advice-from-us-here-at-park-lane\/","title":{"rendered":"Orthodontic advice from us here at Park Lane\u2026.."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>If you are undergoing orthodontic treatment, it\u2019s possible that you might experience some minor problems or discomfort with your brace. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are some scenarios where you will need to visit us in person, if the problem is severe but for minor issues, below is some advice to help you deal with discomfort without needing to visit us in person.<\/p>\n<h5>Caring for fixed braces<\/h5>\n<p>Immediately after being fitted with fixed braces your mouth may feel tender for several days after wire changes. Most patients do not suffer more than very mild discomfort but it your feel sore, over-the-counter like paracetamol and ibuprofen (if are not Asthmatic) taken together is recommended.<\/p>\n<p>If the brace hardware feels sharp in your mouth, you can use the relief wax or putty that your orthodontist will have given your to cover the area. If this persists, do not hesitate to contact us as there could be some exposed wire which needs trimming or another minor issue that only we can identify.<\/p>\n<p>Do not worry if a piece of your brace breaks \u2013 this rarely requires responding to in a matter of urgency but do contact us as soon as possible in order for us to advise you on what to do. If the practice is closed please do leave a message and we will get back to you the earliest possible moment.<\/p>\n<p>If a severe problem occurs and Park Lane is closed call the mobile phone number on the forms from the start of your treatment.<\/p>\n<h5>Removable braces<\/h5>\n<p>The most common problem patients are likely to encounter is the plastic on their brace chipping. If there are any sharp edges on your brace, you can use a piece of thin sandpaper to smoothen them down.
